About the event

Join us for 3 hours of self discovery and deep healing. "The Coming Home to Ourselves Retreat" offers a unique opportunity to listen to the murmurings of your heart.  A chance to connect, and drop into your heart's wisdom. In a world marked by uncertainty and turbulance, we can feel fragmented and adrift. "Coming Home to Ourselves" will provide a time and space to reestablish a connection with the most important person in your life- yourself.

Heading into the holidays can bring up a lot of emotions, and trigger stress. The holidays tend to unite us with people and places that require collaboration and compromise.  These gatherings work best when love is bountiful and we are in alignment with our needs first. Learning strategies to stay grounded in ourselves is what helps us bring our full selves to the table, filled with love and a willingness to open our hearts.  We then can respond from a place of love rather than react.

In this retreat we utilize essential oils as a portal to delve deep into our subconscious and uncover emotions that may be holding us back from manifesting the life we desire, and amplifying our physical and spiritual well-being.  The essential oils help us access and release emotional trauma. Smell is one of our 5 senses that connects to the limbic system of our brain and that can help us release these stored emotions.

Through a carefully curated blend of practices, we will dive deep into the realms of our physical and spiritual bodies, allowing for profound self-discovery and growth.

Here's what you can expect during the retreat:

1. **Essential Oil Aromatherapy:** We will explore the therapeutic potential of essential oils, using them as tools to enhance our senses, promote relaxation, and boost our emotional well-being.

2. **Journaling:** By journaling, we will create a space for self-reflection and self-expression. This practice will help us uncover our inner wisdom, set intentions, and track our personal growth.

3. **Shamanic Journeying:**  We will embark on shamanic journeys to access deeper levels of consciousness, connect with our inner guides, and gain insights into our spiritual paths.

4. **Breath Work/ spacial dynamic exercises:** Through intentional breath work, and spacial dynamic exercises curated for this retreat, we will unlock the potential to reduce stress, increase vitality, and facilitate a deeper connection to our bodies and spirits.

During this intimate gathering, we open to a space that provides deep integrative healing, nurturing from within and from the sacred community we will build.  It will be an opportunity to explore the realms of your physical and spiritual being, guided by us and the transformative power of essential oils

If you are new to this path or are an experienced traveler on the path, we invite YOU to come home to yourself.  Let’s be reminded of how great it can feel to be back-- grounded in our radiant, vibrant selves.

Looking so forward to welcoming you home.

Facilitators: Sarah Shulman and Maria Fahrner

Sarah Shulman leads immersive spiritual healing retreats. She loves to offer participants an expansive magical experience of metamorphosis. Within these frameworks she always encourages her participants to believe in the possibility of transformation. She empowers people to take on their own health and emotional issues and transform these issues using love, and a steadfast connection to their physical and spiritual bodies. Her practice is firmly rooted in the belief that we can all heal ourselves using the innate wisdom of our bodies. She holds this sacred space for true healing to occur.

She is a Mother, a Mystic and Physician who received her medical degree from Tufts University in 1994, and went on to specialize in Pediatrics at Fletcher Allen Hospital at the University of Vermont.  For the past 26 years she has been caring for newborn infants and their mothers.  From 1997-2007 she was the Associate Director of Newborn Services at Mt. Auburn Hospital and for 2007-2021 she served at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.

Most recently she directed the Resiliency Project, a project that focused on strategies for self care for the staff of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at BWH. She received the prestigious grant BCRISP to expand the Resiliency Project into 3 different departments, and was an instructor at Harvard Medical School.   She is board certified in Pediatrics.

In 2021 she left her academic career to focus on her passion. She believes that all illness is profoundly affected by what food choices one makes, and by one’s physical, mental and spiritual well–being. She has also completed a training in Peruvian Shamanism, and in 2017 was initiated into the Incan tradition of Shamanism.

She is an emerging expert, physician, speaker and consultant in the field of mind body medicine. Dr. Shulman is devoted to working to redefine western medicine’s approach to health and wellness. She sees individual clients— specializing in parents and their children, but enjoys working with adults who understand they have the power to change their lives. She leads spiritual healing retreats and gives keynote lectures. She looks forward to collaborating with the Nantucket community, and is appreciative of MAST.

Maria Anderson Fahrner grew up in the Bay Area in Northern California, the granddaughter of immigrants who instilled in her a non-negotiable respect for education, resourcefulness, and a responsibility for giving back and honoring community. As an adult she and her husband lived in Soquel, CA, raising their family, managing a small farm with organic gardens and small livestock, and embracing biodynamic principles of sustainability. In 2018 she and her husband followed their children and grandchildren to Montana to continue their homesteading and educational lifestyle.

Maria has an innate gift for understanding the child’s mind, and following the cues of her own son, she began a journey of homeschool education advocating for the child and their families. With an Elementary Education Credential, a Master’s degree in Education, a foundation in Waldorf teacher training, and a five year Certificate in Spacial Dynamics, she has over thirty years of experience in early childhood and elementary education. She founded and created the Mountain Independent Study program in 1993, an innovative homeschool education option for local families.
